My first sewing project was a pillow that I made, with the help of my mom, back in 1980. I can’t say it was love at first stitch, but I enjoyed it enough to keep at it, learning more from my mom, then spending innumerable hours reading vintage and contemporary sewing books. I’ve amassed quite a collection over the years and find them invaluable for both garment-sewing and quilt-making .
I made my first quilt while pregnant with my son and in the 25 years since, I’ve made more than 100 quilts for both clients and fabric/pattern designers. In addition to custom sewing gigs and designing patterns, I work full-time at Shannon Fabrics as their Events & Education Coordinator.
Previously I had the joy of working for Fabric Depot as their Online Media Manager and in-store instructor, as the Media Relations Specialist for Robert Kaufman Fabrics and as Editor of WebCents and a writer for FabShop News. I have a deep love for local quilt shops and will always encourage sewists and quilters to support the little guys.
